Learning about Plein Air Painting Struggle with plein air? This class gets you going with the basics of tackling outdoor painting. Painting outdoor
takes patience and lots of practice. Learn techniques and ideas that
are used by other painters to make decisions quickly, getting down
the essentials. Let me know your biggest area of frustration and
that is what we will tackle. One on one, or small class so you
get plenty of personal time and help. Check the supply list, do not
buy a lot of new stuff till you check with me. There will be class
notes sent to you before we meet and a suggested reading list to
help you grow. Even if you can't take a class right now, send me
your email to be on my art friends list, I will send you ideas, show
opportunities, painting suggestions, etc.

Saturday, April 26th 9:30am-11:00am $20.00 Painting outdoors is hard. Weather, bugs, wind, sun, why do we do it? Because the benefits of painting from life are amazing and powerful to your improvement as an artist. Painting from life is the best way to gain control over perspective, color, values, all tools you need to create what you want. Good painting should never be an accident but an intentional act by the artist. The first part of the class will go over what to pack and what NOT to pack. Most people think they need a traveling studio, not so. I can help you improve and work with what you have, and hopefully make it so much easier for you to head out to paint. The last part of the class we will begin on how to lay out your painting, to look at composition. If that isn’t right at the beginning of your painting, there is no saving it. We will cover making that all important decision of what to paint and how to lay it out.
